For the first time, I have seen GRACE in another Light. Once again for me [and you], the Answer lies high and lifted up… from the Cross.
“Then the Jews, because it was the day of preparation, so that the bodies would not remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a high day), asked Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away. So the soldiers came, and broke the legs of the first man and of the other who was crucified with Him; but coming to Jesus, when they saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs.”
But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out. And he who has seen has testified, and his testimony is true; and he knows that he is telling the truth, so that you also may believe. For these things came to pass to fulfill the Scripture, “NOT A BONE OF HIM SHALL BE BROKEN.” And again another Scripture says, “THEY SHALL LOOK ON HIM WHOM THEY PIERCED.”
The bodies have to be removed from the crosses. This scene could not be ‘sighted’ by viewers on the Sabbath. They had to go [hurry up & die]… faster. The ‘evidence’ had to be removed.
This begs the question for me… So why did they choose the day they chose, for what we know now, to be a BLESSED event? This is just further proof to me that God causes all things to work together for His good, according to His purpose. [Romans 8:28] Along the same lines as this… Two thieves remained on their crosses, alive, for God’s good purpose. For those who love God, He has given time to repent and reconcile, for their own good…. His divine purpose.
There had stood three crosses which held… One King and two thieves. On either side of Jesus there hung in the balance… choice. Two partners in crime had equal opportunity with exposure to the Light and God’s measurement of time [and even more so after “Father, into Your hands, I commit My Spirit” Luke 23:46].
As Jesus hung from the cross and “having… breathed His last” [Luke 23:46]… there was GRACE! And abundantly, more GRACE… time. One thief said ‘yes’! And one said ‘no’? Had the ‘yes man’ persevered to the ‘end’, strong in faith? Had the ‘no way man’, by the Grace of God [“THEY SHALL LOOK ON HIM WHOM THEY PIERCED.” John 19:37], having turned around, saw the Light in his remaining moments?
Neither had served one day in Christian service. No one, including Jesus, walked them through the Salvation Prayer. And yet we know, because the Bible tell us so, that at least one of them will be joining Jesus in paradise [Luke 23:43].
We talk about GRACE, but do we fully understand the magnitude of His divine provision, His helping on our plates? Do we grasp the undeserved amount of time He extends to us, that our hearts may desire to get it right[eous]? Or how long do we witness the Grace of God, before we pass it on to others? And when is it, that we finally come to our senses and understand that it is not about us and what we do, but Who He is and what He’s done?
And “Once Again” You pour out Your Life…
But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out… so that you also may believe. …”THEY SHALL LOOK ON HIM WHOM THEY PIERCED.”
We talk about GRACE, but do we live it? We take up the cross-walk, but do we truly follow The Leader?
I believe, Lord… Help my unbelief!
Have a joyfully abundant, heaping helping of EASTER GRACE… on JESUS!
“GOD BLESS US… everyone!”
