When the flood gates open, will you be ready?

When the flood gates open, will you have built your house on higher ground?  And when the rains come, will you be standing on solid rock or sinking sand?

The Two Foundations
24“Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock.
25“And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock.
26“Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.
27“The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell–and great was its fall.”
 28When Jesus had finished these words, the crowds were amazed at His teaching;
29for He was teaching them as one having authority, and not as their scribes. [Matthew 7]

SO… Where will you go, when disaster relief doesn’t reach you in time?  Where will you be then?  What do you expect to see, hear, smell, taste, and touch, at the moment of your last breath?  If we are honest, we must admit that our bodies, while we are in them, possess an energy, a spirit.  This energy/spirit has got to go somewhere.  My question to you is… “where”?  “Where will you be?”

I am asking this with sincerity.  If you believe that when you “go”, “pass away”, “die”, and this or that happens, I ask you… “Is this or that OK, acceptable, peaceful to you?  Are you good with your investment?  Are you confident in the setting of your GPS?”  I pray it so… for you.

It is from Matthew 7, my InTouch Daily Devotional Scripture for today, that I scribe to you.  Dr. Charles Stanley gives an awesome message from the suggested reading in Matthew 7:7-8, but the Lord highlighted an expanded area of this Scripture selection, for me to focus.

I want to state up front, that I am completely blessed with the entire passage from Matthew 7.  When I read His words, I am always amazed in their relevance and purposeful direction for me, the very day I read them.  And often, they are words of encouragement, confirmation, and conviction… for me & you.  As it was the case, today…

21“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.
22“Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’

[My heart speaks another answer… “Oh my God I want to be with You, but not as I will but Yours oh Lord.  But may I have… Dear God, the scraps from Your table, for even the dogs receive these?”]

23And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.’
[Matthew 7]

[Who do you truly serve… God or man [self]?  “For HE who searches the heart, knows the mind of the spirit”… Romans 8:27.  And my God tells me… “Get on your face before ME and tell ME who it is… you love!”]

27 And she said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.”
28 Then Jesus answered and said to her, “O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire.” [Matthew 15]

The Law, the Prophets, and the Kingdom
14 Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, also heard all these things, and they derided Him. 15 And He said to them, “You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is highly esteemed among men is an abomination in the sight of God...  [Luke 16]

Luke 16

19 “There was a certain rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and fared sumptuously every day. 20 But there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, full of sores, who was laid at his gate, 21 desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell[d] from the rich man’s table. Moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. 22 So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
24 “Then he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.’ 25 But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are tormented. 26 And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us.’
27 “Then he said, ‘I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father’s house, 28 for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.’ 29 Abraham said to him, ‘They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.’ 30 And he said, ‘No, father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’ 31 But he said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.’”

Matthew 7

Judging Others
1“Do not judge so that you will not be judged.
2“For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you.
3“Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?
4“Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ and behold, the log is in your own eye?
5“You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.
6“Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine, or they will trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.
Prayer and the Golden Rule
7“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
8“For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
9“Or what man is there among you who, when his son asks for a loaf, will give him a stone?
10“Or if he asks for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he?
11“If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!
12“In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
The Narrow and Wide Gates
13“Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it.
14“For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.
A Tree and Its Fruit
15“Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves.
16“You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they?
17“So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit.
18“A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit.
19“Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
20“So then, you will know them by their fruits.
23“And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.’
